Riverdale North and South Toronto Real Estate

Walk/Bike/Transit Score             2nd Quarter 2015 Reports

Riverdale is a large diverse Toronto neighbourhood south of the Danforth and east of the Don River Valley. In Toronto Real Estate terms North Riverdale ends at Gerrand and South Riverdale continues south of Gerrard to the waterfront and runs east to Coxwell. Over the years Riverdale has become one of Toronto's most trendy neighbourhoods.

This thriving residential community is just east of the downtown core. Since its amendment to the City of Toronto in 1884, it has developed a stature as a neighbourhood of the arts, with several independent galleries located along Queen Street East. Parkland is in abundance throughout Riverdale with 2 major parks being the focal points of the neighbourhood. Both Riverdale and Withrow Park offer everything a family is looking for, from trails to sports fields with tennis and swimming.

Mature tree-lined streets set off the real estate in this area as each house has its own unique look. South Riverdale has more condo and loft buildings among the detached and semi-detached homes, with minimalist modern next to charming vintage. - See more at: http://www.torontotransitions.com/Riverdale-North-and-South-Toronto-Real-Estate-Listings-Prices-Schools#sthash.PT427IDj.dpuf

Riverdale Property, Toronto Real Estate:

The residential landscape within Riverdale is made up primarily of Victorian and Edwardian style homes, constructed in the 1800s as boarding rooms for the working-class. Many of the residences have since been redeveloped and renovated into homes for young families to fit the tree-lined streetscape. In recent times, local housing values have increased significantly. With this a new generation of young professionals and their families have moved into the area, furthering already widespread gentrification. Buyers are able to find every type of real estate in this area from a small townhouse or a luxury 3 storey detached home or open trendy hard loft. Riverdale was once known as the area to buy cheaper and fix up older and even heritage homes but this is not the case anymore.

Shopping in Riverdale:

As one of Toronto's best shopping neighbourhoods, families spend the entire day strolling down The Danforth, that offers top restaurants, boutiques and ma and pa shops. Many Torontonians come to Riverdale for their fruit and vegetable markets and have a meal in Greektown. The Danforth is a well known shopping destination and its unique flavour makes it a destination stop right in your neighbourhood.

Queen St East offers antique and designer boutiques with some of Toronto's most desired restaurants.

Riverdale Business Improvement Association offers many events throughout the year and displays a strong community spirit.
